Teahouse Official Tumblr: The saddest piece of advice you'll ever get about doing a webcomic. → teahousecomic.tumblr.com

withering-lilies:

teahousecomic:

In the last few months several of our friends have said to us, “I do not know how you handle all of the crap you guys get on the internet.” Most of the time our response to them is, “We do our best to try to ignore it, but it is surprisingly hard.”

I’ll be honest. I was a nerdy kid and I was…

This is the main reason why I seem to have lost my motivation to do my own webcomic. I was also the kid who was constantly picked on and bullied, but I had my art and my stories for company so things weren’t so bad. Eventually I became brave enough to work on my webcomic and share it with the internet and things have been going fairly well.

However I was also a target of this bullying that they call constructive criticism. An artist is always looking for feedback and constructive criticism, which is very different from bashing. These people like to bash and make fun of the work you put hours and days of your life into, and for free, and then they call it criticism and that if we don’t take it it’s because we have a giant ego.

I still have my art and stories, and it’s still super enjoyable to work on, until I remember I’ll eventually have to share it online and that’s when I just feel like putting the pencil down. If it won’t be treated with at least respect, because I poured so much effort into it, literally the very best I can do right now, for free, then why share it at all?

I know eventually the feeling will pass, and I’ll probably build that thick skin people keep talking about since I was a little kid. I also know there’s no stopping these people, so yeah… I also decided to just ignore it because if you acknowledge it, it seems to give those people the time of their lives and they just go at it even harder. But I hope these lines will at least enlighten some people who think that artists should accept bullying and bashing as forms of criticism.

But yes, the teahouse ladies already said it best. Just thought I’d add a few lines of my own.

Reblogging because then I get questions “what, wherever that happens? I don’t believe you”.

Whenever you make a stupid, thoughtless attack on a creator you are hurting them. They might not say anything but most creative people are sensitive and it DOES affect them.

There are some creators who are terrible, who post stuff full of hate, racism, homophobia, misogyny, who do terrible things. But those are usually NOT targeted by the trolls. Those targeted by bullying are usually people who seem like someone who, for various reasons, cannot protect him/herself.

Seriously, if you are harassing someone just because he/she is more talented, more successful, more popular… FUCKING STOP IT. NOW.

Heretics by Fuuten Eki → s2b2.livejournal.com

shousetsubangbang:

From Volume 8, Issue 36

Hayser lazily glanced around the room full of happy, partying people. His eye fell on a mirror and he grimaced when he saw a dark, tired face. He was only in his thirties, but sometimes he looked over forty - it was mostly the tired look in his puffy eyes, and the dark shadows underneath, that somehow seemed to enhance the small wrinkles. He thought he looked just as out of place as he felt: a tired old man among people having fun.

Read and comment if you like it. If you don’t like it you can tell me too; I haven’t been writing prose for a long time and it was kind of a shock treatment so I take all the criticism as long as you put it politely (you don’t have to write there).

If you scroll to the end there is a speedpainty illustration ;)

And remember to check out the other stories too~! (Haven’t read them all myself yet, though).

The Crime and Punishment issue has been let out and is now ready to return to society! Come celebrate its release!

(For those waiting on the .pdf version, it shall be along shortly.)

One of those is mine. It even has an illustration. But I won’t tell which so you have to check out ALL of the submissions :3

One of Internet mysteries.

You write “I hate when stupid crusaders are hurting innocent* people in the name of fighting racism, misogyny and homophobia” and you get the reply “Oh, so you think  misogyny, racism and homophobia are GOOD?” form the exact crusaders because they completely missed the point.

*Because harassing people who you just assume will do something wrong due to some arbitrary characteristics (like maybe their skin colour**) has NOTHING to do with discrimination***.

**(all people on the Internet are white males aged 12-35 unless proved otherwise***)

***Do I have to add sarcasm tag?

(And also apparently being biologically female + queer and writing about and drawing characters who are mixed genders, LGBTQ and different races and being a fan and supporter of artists who do the same and being quite vocal on the issues at times (not to mention my favourite characters who are oh, just ALL white hetero alpha males***)  means nothing and still makes me racist, misogynistic and LGBTQ-phobic. I just… don’t understand.

Is it because I’m blonde? God, it is, isn’t it?)

Who will animate you? You're being adapted to an anime!

(From http://en.shindanmaker.com/214326 via theyoungdoyley

By Gainax, a 300 episode harem anime about Pedes’s homo adventures.

By Sunrise, a 3000 episode mystery anime about p_the_wanderer’s stalking adventures.

I’m not sure which one I like better XD

Regarding the print question...

In case the anon wasn’t asking just about comics but also prints:

I’ve been in one artbook and a pocket calendar. And I also still have different sizes of prints I’ve done for Japan Expo long ago. If I go to a con and get a table then along with new prints I am working and will be working on I’ll have copies of those:

Most probably I will reprint the Natsume postcards as I forgot to print them last time and I really like it (I also want to make a new Natsume print though I haven’t started on it yet… because Natsume is <3)

(it’s a bit embarassing but I took a damaged print with Allen and hang it in my cubicle at work >.> But for this one and Natsume the colors printed amazingly well :O)

Fun fact: Two Naked Chest Roy postcards were stolen at the con (and one other but I don’t remember which).
